The Morality of Human Habitat

History books are populated with seemingly heroic stories of great conquistadors who forged paths into new worlds and fearlessly battled any and all to claim the land as their own. These so-called heroes claimed land through brute force. Our current system of fee simple land ownership by the majority of our population is a fairly recent occurrence in human history, and allows millions of land transactions to occur annually without a shot being fired. The ability to own and trade peacefully the resource most needed for human survival is a unique invention of the human mind that extends the nature of the being into the realm of land use. Rick Porter will argue that private property ownership is the moral approach to the utilization of our land.
